In the Russian film industry, there is a tradition at the beginning of filming to break a plate with the name of the project and the names of the crew. In the past, this plate used to be disassembled into fragments and reassembled at the end of filming.
Nowadays, with the availability of transfer printing, copies of these plates are preserved as souvenirs by production studios and companies, among others and are used as one of the ways to 'declare' to press and journalists of the start of the new project.
